Ingrebretsen Building History:

Built in 1878 by Eric Peterson...one of the brothers who came from Karlskoga, Sweden in 1851 and started the village of Stockholm...and Youngquist, this stone buildling dates from the original settlement of Stockholm.  Its first use was as a general store/farm implements.  For a short time, around 1885-87, it was a hotel.  Anton. Eric's son, ran a hardware business in the building.  Through the years it became a confectionary, barbershop, speakeasy and cafe.  When Eric Janus and Carolyn Chalmers bought the building in early 2002, the building had been abandoned for several years.  Restoration and renovation of the upstairs residence and downstairs shop were completed in 2003.

J. Ingebretsen's av Stockholm opened their shop in September 2003, returning the building to its Scandinavian heritage and commercial use.
